Ludlow Cove Shoreline Slope Stabilization & Stormwater Engineering
Ludlow Cove Cottages HOA Division II
Port Ludlow, Washington
Key Project Elements:
Marine shoreline stabilization
Stormwater engineering
Critical areas permitting
The Ludlow Cove Cottages Division II HOA selected Cross Reiter to complete a reconnaissance and condition assessment of their existing shoreline and stormwater facilities. The HOA had observed slope instability and erosive stormwater overflows and needed guidance to ensure long-term stability of their shoreline residential development, which includes over 50 homes.
Cross Reiter staff mobilized to the site and completed a thorough reconnaissance of existing conditions. We documented our conclusions and recommendations in a comprehensive summary, and prepared conceptual designs for upgrades to the existing stormwater outfalls and targeted shoreline stabilization improvements. Cross Reiter staff provided the HOA with a detailed permitting pathway summary to obtain required shoreline development permits, including from Jefferson County, Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife, and the United States Army Corps of Engineers.
This project is a great example of how Cross Reiter staff combine their civil and geotechnical engineering expertise to efficiently provide actionable solutions for clients. In this case, our experience designing stormwater infrastructure, combined with our geotechnical expertise and slope stability knowledge, led to a holistic solution for the HOA.
Cross Reiter staff assessed shoreline slope and stormwater facility conditions and made recommendations for improvements.
Cross Reiter prepared conceptual designs for new stormwater outfalls with considerations for energy dissipation and corrosion resistance, as well as feasible ‘hard’ and ‘soft’ shoreline stabilization techniques.
